Letter from My Brothers

Nicole Breit discusses, “Letters from My Brothers,” an epistolary essay first published in Room Magazine’s Family Secrets Issue (2018), and reprinted in Lit Mag Love Anthology I: Blood & Water (2019), in a Hippocampus Magazine craft article published in 2017. “CRAFT: Answering the Call: On Writing About Trauma and Loss,” can be read here.

When a Jack Fails

If you’re a creative non-fiction writer and have not picked up a copy of Hippocampus Magazine’s book, “Getting to The Truth” (2021), pause right now and go buy it. Not solely for the reason my essay, “When a Jack Fails,” is discussed in Nicole Breit’s article, “When Words and Images Collide: Crafting the Visual Essay.” It’s an outstanding resource! But don’t take my word for it, read Lindsey Anthony-Bacchione’s glowing review of “Getting to The Truth” published on Brevity‘s website (February 9, 2022).

“When a Jack Fails” was published in The Journal of Compressed Creative Arts (2019) and was included as course reading material in Nicole Breit’s Spark Your Visual Story (2020).

Invisible Walls

My sticky notes essay, “Invisible Walls,” published in The Fiddlehead’s Summer 2022 issue edited by Rowan McCandless, is included as reading material in Nicole Breit’s  Spark Your Story Intensive program (Fall 2022), and won GOLD in National Magazine Awards 2023 “One of a Kind Story-telling” category.

The Fiddlehead's Summer 2022 issue, which includes Invisible Walls, is now being used as a textbook at the Wilfird Laurier University, Waterloo, Ontario.
